A Wild Week in the Interscholastic League!

IL Wrestling Update

Congratulations to the East Bears for their sweep over Center (39-37), Guadalupe (66-0) and Ruskin (47-36) in a quad at Center High School on Jan. 28 and have now won 5 straight duals. Meanwhile, the East Girls Wrestling team also earned a win vs Guadalupe (18-0) with Yara Lara pinning her opponent. The Bears followed up by competing at the West Platte Invitational on Feb. 1, with both Daniel Tapusoa (152) and Zeke Smith (285) taking 1st place in their divisions.

And the Lincoln Wrestling Program made history this week by taking their JV and Varsity teams to tournaments at different locations in the same weekend, the first time ever for a KCPS school. While there, Lincoln showed up in force, with Louis Moten II (220) going 5-0 on the weekend, including an OT win over a 2-time State Medalist from Lawson. Moten II is now 22-0 on the year.

IL Basketball Update

The Lincoln boys basketball team is riding a hot streak, winning 4 of their last 5 and 8 of their last 10 games. The Blue Tigers defeated Park Hill 61-60 Saturday, Feb. 1 at the Hall of Fame Classic as junior Aaron Bedell led the team with 13 points and 6 rebounds.

Congratulations to Jeramyiah Marshall of the Central Lady Blue Eagles for scoring her 600th career point in an 11-point night vs University Academy. Marshall followed that perfor­mance with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists in a 39-26 win over Washington High School on Jan. 31.

IL Middle School Champs

Congratulations to the Lincoln Lady Middle School Tigers for winning the Girls KC Metro Championship Feb. 1 at the IL Field House. Also earning a championship trophy on Saturday, the Northeast Titans Cheer & Dance team earned the top spot in the Metro.
