Students Honored for ‘Nature In Your Neighborhood’ Art

Success Academy at Knotts and Harold Holliday Montessori School boast award-winning artists

Kansas City, April 4, 2017:  Several Kansas City Public Schools students from Success Academy at Knotts and Harold Holliday Montessori School had their work honored and showcased during an evening awards ceremony April 4 at the Anita B. Gorman Conservation Discovery Center.

The center’s “Nature In Your Neighborhood” contest was started to encourage students to create art from their observations of nature in their communities. The following KCPS students were honored during the reception and ceremony:

  • Angel Torres (Success Academy at Knotts) – 1st place in the grades 3-5 category
  • Vontae Warfield (Success Academy at Knotts) – 3rd place in the grades K-2 category
  • Kennedi White (Holliday Montessori School) – 3rd place in the grades 6-8 category
  • Ki’anni Brown (Holliday Montessori School) – 1st place in the grades K-2 category
  • Giselle Maupins (Holliday Montessori School) – 2nd place in the grades K-2 category
  • Jazmin Thomas-Mooring (Holliday Montessori School) – 2nd place in the grades 3-5 category

The students’ art can be viewed through the month of April at the center, which is located at 4750 Troost Ave. in Kansas City, Mo.
