Kansas City, March 9, 2017: Students, parents and staff in the southern portion of Kansas City Public Schools will be “Shamrockin’ In Brookside” with kazoos during the Brookside St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
Stakeholders from Hale Cook, Benjamin Banneker, Martin Luther King, Jr. and Troost elementary schools and Border Star and Harold Holliday Montessori schools will be marching together with pride as the KCPS South Schools Kazoo Band starting at 2:00 p.m.
The Hale Cook Elementary School PTA and KCPS organized the combined kazoo marching band for the parade in order to create more opportunities for the families and students of the southside elementary schools to come together and support each other.
Participants will gather prior to the parade at 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Linden Road and West 66th Street. Band members will be provided with kazoos. All KCPS students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian; KCPS will not be responsible for supervising children during the parade.
