School Board Seeking Individuals to Represent KCPS on Central City Development Tax Commission

Kansas City, March 18, 2019:  The Kansas City Public Schools Board of Directors is currently accepting applications from individuals interested in serving as the school system’s representative on the Central City Economic Development Sales Tax Commission. 

The KCPS Board will select a representative to serve the remainder of an unexpired term on the five-member commission, which was established to review and recommend development proposals for the 10-year, one-eighth-cent sales tax approved by Kansas City voters in 2017. The KCPS Board will reopen the selection process in October 2019 in order to appoint a member for another two-year term.

Individuals interested in serving on the commission can submit their names for consideration by sending a resume or background statement with complete contact information to KCPS, Office of Board Services, 2901 Troost Avenue, Room 202, Kansas City, MO, 64109, or by emailing jkolkmeier@kcpublicschools.org. To be considered, individuals must reside within the KCPS district boundaries. The KCPS Board is seeking individuals who have relevant experience and/or demonstrated knowledge of economic development processes and of the designated development area.

The deadline to submit a resume is 4 p.m. Monday, March 25. The KCPS Board of Directors will conduct interviews on April 3 and complete its selection process by April 10.
