The weekend before classes start again at the University of Missouri – Kansas City, college students took time out of their schedule to give back to the community, spending Saturday, Aug. 18 at Central Middle School.
In conjunction with Central Middle staff members, 100 UMKC students worked on 22 projects around the building. The day of service was designed to help get the campus ready for a successful new school year. Volunteers painted, refreshed landscape, cleaned windows, created bulletin boards and more.
Organized as part of UMKC’s Roos Give Back program and hosted by UMKC’s Office of Student Involvement, volunteers were from all aspects of college life include athletes, mock trial club, student leaders, etc. The Give Back program helps organizations across the metropolitan area throughout the year.
