Kansas City, April 5, 2018:  Kansas City Public Schools Superintendent Mark Bedell is being honored for his outstanding performance as a new superintendent by the Missouri Association of School Administrators (MASA).

Dr. Bedell accepted the 2018 New Superintendent Recognition Award during a banquet and ceremony on April 4 at the Lodge of the Four Seasons in Lake Ozarks, Mo. He was nominated by his colleagues in the Greater Kansas City MASA District.

The award is presented annually to superintendents who are in their second or third year of leadership and who have made a significant contribution to the school district which they serve.

The April 4 ceremony was exactly two years after Dr. Bedell came to Kansas City to sign his contract as the new superintendent of KCPS. In the time since, he has led the school system through a transformational process as it strives to provide high quality educational experiences that prepare all students for the 21st century global economy.

“This awards means so much to me because I’m being recognized by my fellow superintendents and other school leaders. These are professionals that I truly admire.” Dr. Bedell said. “Every member of Team KCPS shares this award, because they are all contributing every day towards the success of our students.”
