Lincoln Prep Soccer Coach Earns State Recognition

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) named Lincoln College Preparatory Academy Soccer Coach Lucas Richardson the 2017 Small Division Coach of the Year for Missouri. Richardson led the boys soccer team to a district championship and finished second place in the state championship.

This year was Richardson’s first season as the head coach at Lincoln Prep. Previously, Richardson was an assistant soccer coach at Pembroke and the University of Kentucky.

Richardson attributes his coach-of-the-year recognition to his players’ hard work and dedication. The team made KCPS history by becoming the first soccer team to advance to the state championship match.

“These guys deserve a lot of credit for doing something that had never been done before. I’m very proud of them.” Richardson said.

Lincoln Prep will return several talented players from the 2017 season, including six varsity freshman and four standout juniors.
