Lincoln, East, Northeast and Central Ready for Basketball Tourneys

District tourney games set for Wednesday, February 28 and continue this week

Kansas City, February 28, 2018:  Vikings, Lions, Bears and Eagles are on the prowl during the boys and girls district basketball tournaments this week in the Kansas City, Mo. metro region.

Scholar-athletes from across Kansas City Public Schools will be demonstrating their hardcourt skills during the following games as they strive to reach the state championships:

  • Lincoln College Preparatory Academy boys vs. Van Horn High School (Class 4, District 14) – 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28 at Center High School, 8715 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO (If Lincoln Prep wins, they will play Center High School at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, March 2 at the same location. The district championship will be at noon on Saturday, March 3 at Center HS.)
  • East High School boys vs. Pembroke High School (Class 4, District 14) – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28 at Center HS
  • Northeast High School boys vs. Kearney High School (Class 4, District 15) – 5:00 p.m. Thursday, March 1 at Kearney High School, 715 E. 19th St., Kearney, MO (If Northeast HS wins, they will play in the district championship at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 2 at Kearney HS)
  • Lincoln Prep girls vs. Notre Dame High School (Class 4, District 14) – 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 1 at Center HS (If Lincoln Prep wins, they will play in the district championship at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 3 at Center HS.)
  • Central Academy of Excellence boys vs. the winner of the East HS/Pembroke game (Class 4, District 14) – 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 2 at Center High School

KCPS is encouraging all students, staff, parents, alumni and community members to turn out for these games to cheer on their schools, demonstrate great sportsmanship and support these outstanding students and coaches.
