KCPS Students Star at State Music Competition

Performers earn top marks at April 28 festival


Kansas City, May 4, 2017: Kansas City Public Schools scholars have proven once again that they among the best performing artists in Missouri.

KCPS band, orchestra and vocal students earned outstanding results in the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) State Solo and Small Ensemble Music Festival on Friday, April 28, at the University of Missouri in Columbia.

In order to qualify, the students had to attain a 1-rating (“Exemplary”) at their MSHSAA District Solo and Small Ensemble Music Festival held in March in Grain Valley. This is the highest honor a music student can achieve from MSHSAA.
