The purpose of the Kansas City Public Schools Teacher of the Year program is to recognize the contributions of the classroom teacher. Teacher quality and effectiveness are the most important school-based factors impacting student learning. No one person has a greater impact on the education of a child than does the teacher, who creates the learning environment where children flourish and grow. The mission of the KCPS Teacher of the Year Program is to honor, promote and celebrate excellence in the teaching profession in alignment with state and national recognitions.

Once nominations have been submitted, principals will lead a Teacher of the Year selection process for his or her individual school. Those school-level Teachers of the Year will then be placed in consideration for selection as the KCPS honoree, which will be announced on April 11.

Nominate a KCPS teacher today for your school’s 2019 Teacher of the Year Award!
