Kansas City, Oct. 5, 2017:  Hundreds of Kansas City Public Schools students, parents and staff participated in the 2017 International Walk to School Day on Wednesday, Oct. 4.

International Walk to School Day involves community members, students, families and staff in a one-day push to encourage healthy lifestyles and safety in their neighborhoods. Participants form “walking school busses” before school at designated points, then get to appreciate things like listening to the sounds of the neighborhood, visiting with friends and family members and feeling connected with their community.

Border Star Montessori School and Gladstone Elementary School both hosted events despite the rain that morning. Faxon Elementary School, James Elementary School and Hale Cook Elementary School opted to reschedule their participation due to the weather.
