KCPS Communications Team Earns Multiple MOSPRA Awards

Communications earns first place for Photo/Photo Series and Website, Award of Merit for Golden Achievement and Video

Each year the Missouri School Public Relations Association (MOSPRA) provides its members the opportunity to have their work evaluated by public relations professionals and measured against industry standards. In the 2018 MOSPRA Communications Awards Program, the Kansas City Public Schools Department of Communications and Community Engagement was recognized with multiple awards.

    • Photo/Photo Series: First Place in Category, Award of Merit for the photographs used as part of the Signature School Marketing Campaign
    • Website: First Place in Category, Award of Merit for the new enrollment website EnrollKC.org
    • Golden Achievement: Award of Merit for the Signature School Marketing Campaign
    • Video: Award of Merit for the 150 Years of KCPS celebration video

Each submission in the program was judged by two public relations professionals both inside and outside of the public education arena. One of the category judges of the Golden Achievement entry wrote, “I spent the first 15 years of my career marketing and promoting magnet schools. Our stuff was good, but these materials are outstanding, and the storytelling is wonderful. In a time when we concentrate so much on visuals, we forget how effective sound can be. The sound bites are well-scripted and deliver your message efficiently.”

“The MOSPRA Communications Awards Program not only recognizes exemplary school public relations programs but also provides valuable feedback from public relations professionals to help our members continue to improve their work,” MOSPRA President Paul Tandy said. “Congratulations to this year’s honorees on this well-deserved recognition.”
