Hundreds of community members, representatives from the Garcia family and staff from Kansas City Public Schools honored the memory of Primitivo Garcia on Saturday, Nov. 25 at Garcia Elementary School.
The celebration marked the 50th anniversary of Primitivo Garcia’s heroic death in which he saved his teacher, Mrs. Margaret Kindermann, from a life-threatening attack involving a street gang. During the ceremony, Mrs. Kindermann gave a moving account of the events that occurred that night and her appreciation for Primitivo’s heroic efforts.
Throughout the celebration, live music, dancers and several guest speakers helped commemorate the life of Primitivo Garcia. The Kansas City Mexican Consulate also acknowledged the legacy of Primitivo Garcia by presenting a special certificate of appreciation for his heroism.
