Students, families and staff from Hale Cook Elementary School enjoyed some waffles from The Waffler Food Truck and then participated in a school-wide walk to school event on Wednesday, Oct. 11. Originally planned as part of last week’s 2017 International Walk to School Day, the event was rescheduled due to rainy weather.
International Walk to School Day involves community members, students, families and staff in a one-day push to encourage healthy lifestyles and safety in their neighborhoods. Participants form “walking school busses” before school at designated points, then get to appreciate things like listening to the sounds of the neighborhood, visiting with friends and family members and feeling connected with their community.
