During the 2018-2019 school year, the Department of Community Engagement hosted a variety of events including the Go Red, Go STEM program, where 100 of female KCPS students were introduced to the different professions in the STEM field. In addition, the Community Engagement team expanded on-going collaborations with community partners such as Scholastic, Inc, Church of the Resurrection and more.
KCPS ended the academic year with pomp and circumstance as we honored our seniors during six high school graduation ceremonies on May 20 and 32. In total, over 1,000 students walked across the stage, turned their tassels and became high school graduates. Seniors earned almost $10 million in scholarships and will attend 80+ different higher education institutions in the fall. KCPS is extremely proud of every member of the Class of 2019, and we are excited about the great things they will accomplish!
