Community business leaders from across Kansas City led a series of roundtable discussions with students at East High School on Thursday, Feb. 8. The luncheon was designed to prepare students for the upcoming KC Bizfest event.
KC Bizfest is an annual event sponsored by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Greater KC and the Hispanic Collaborative. The event is a four-day youth entrepreneurial conference and scholarship competition. On the last day of Bizfest, students present a small business idea to a panel of judges for a chance to receive up to $3,000 in scholarship money.
Over 20 different community leaders came to the luncheon at East to give advice to students regarding their small business presentations. Representatives from the Kansas City Police Department, local new stations, city council, Hallmark, Boy Scouts of America and more were in attendance.
KC Bizfest will take place from Feb. 14-17 at Johnson County Community College.
