Kansas City, Oct. 20, 2017: A world of news and information rolled into Kansas City Public Schools to help teachers prepare their students for the global economy.
The C-SPAN Bus mobile classroom from Washington, D.C. stopped at Northeast High School from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday Oct. 20. The school is located at 415 Van Brunt Ave. in Kansas City, Mo.
The C-SPAN Bus is part of the C-SPAN In the Community program. It travels the country to provide a hands-on look at C-SPAN’s extensive video archives and promote public access to the political process. The bus visits schools, universities, book festivals, campaign events, museums and conventions to host anyone interested in getting an inside look at C-SPAN’s comprehensive educational and political resources. Basically, the bus is a mobile studio and classroom.
Teachers walked away with resources they can use in the classroom. State Rep. Ingrid Burnett stopped by and chatted with bus staff and visitors, and students, alumni and community members also joined the tours. Groups of 15 people at a time visited the bus and each workshop lasted 15 minutes.
The C-SPAN Bus visit at Northeast High School was part of a 50-state tour. Learn more about the bus and the program by visiting www.c-span.org/community.
