All KCPS Parents Are Invited to the District Advisory Committee Meeting on April 17

Meeting theme is “Building Community and Parent Organizations"

March 26, 2019, Kansas City, Mo: The final District Advisory Committee (DAC) general meeting of the academic year will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17 at the Board of Education, which is located at 2901 Troost Ave. Refreshments will be available.

The theme of this meeting is “Building Community and Parent Organizations.” We hope the information shared will help our parent-leaders build family engagement and make their school community stronger and more empowered.

We will also hold elections for next school year’s DAC Executive Board (DACx) members. The DACx is made up of seven parents or community members. The responsibilities of the DACx include:

  • Planning quarterly DAC general meetings
  • Supporting parent organizations at KCPS district schools
  • Identifying parent priorities and concerns
  • Communicating the voice of the parents/community to KCPS Board and administrators through participation in committees and meetings with KCPS board, administrators, and staff

For the DACx election, if more than one representative from a school attends the meeting, each school must identify one representative to cast the ballot. DAC representatives are typically the chair of their School Advisory Committee (or other parent organization) or they may be another designated person from their parent organization. If you are interested in serving on the 2019-2020 DACx, please request a candidacy form from DAC Corresponding Secretary Lisa Gooden (, 816-204-0905) or DAC Chair Susan Stocking (, 816-206-2456). Completed forms must be submitted by April 12.
