John T. Hartman Elementary
How are you working to increase equity in education and opportunity for students in your school?
My principal asked my second grade class on behalf of Hartman Elementary School to write thank you letters to our seven business partners for donating over 5,000 books to Hartman students. This gave my classroom students the opportunity to increase their letter writing skills and reading abilities. This entire project took two days to complete. My classroom students combined these letters into a book form. The seven Business Partners were invited to a reception at Hartman school a week later to be presented with thank you notes. The business partners were very impressed.
What message about public education do you want to share?
One of the major public education issue today is student behavior problems. Disruptive students can keep other students from learning. It is important to get the behavior under control so teachers can meet the needs of all students.
