What motivated your career in education?
Honestly, my third grade resource teacher was a big factor. I would go to her class and she would work with me. I was not able to keep up with the others in my class. When I would struggle with a concept she would say, “There is nothing you can’t do we just have to figure out how.” That effort to connect with me made all the difference to how I related to school and learning.

What message about public education do you want to share?
Public Education should be Partnership between Parents and Teachers. Parents, community and anyone that makes a choice for children should know that we are growing little people into adults that later make choices for us. We should be doing everything we can to ensure they know how to choose correctly in life. Outside the door of my classroom there is a sign to help others know how to conduct themselves with the children in my care. “Beyond this point, allow the children to do the things they can do. And facilitate the things that can’t do YET.” All children can learn, just allow them to make mistakes and figure it out. You will be amazed at how much they can learn.
