NAME: Alyssa Gandy
SCHOOL: Wheatley Elementary
GRADE/SUBJECT: First Grade
“Over the course of several years as a student, I was able to experience teachers and professors who not only modeled excellence in their craft and instruction, but also excellence in their ability to breathe life into the content and material they were teaching. Their drive to equip and engage students with life-changing skills and abilities played a pivotal factor in my desire and drive to become an educator, and more importantly, a classroom elementary teacher.”
WHAT MESSAGE ABOUT PUBLIC EDUCATION DO YOU WANT SHARE?
“To be an excellent teacher, one must first be an excellent student. I think it is safe to say that one never “arrives” at who they are or who they can become. Because of this, we must fully embrace the role of being a student, for when we are students, we will grow in excellence and mastership.”
