Faxon Elementary School students and staff enjoyed a fun interruption to their day on Thursday, Aug. 31 – a surprise visit from the St. Louis Blues.
St. Louis Blues hockey player Colton Parayko and mascot Louie along with Fox Sports Co-host Bernie Federko made time during their visit to Kansas City to stop by Faxon to recognize first grade teacher Carly Brandt. During their stay, they gave Brandt an autographed Blues hat and two tickets to the upcoming National Hockey League preseason game when the Blues host the Minnesota Wild at the Sprint Center.
“Ms. Brandt is an energetic, loving teacher who is dedicated to her students,” Faxon Principal Kathleen Snipes said. “It’s an honor to recognize her in this way.”
In addition to two tickets for Brandt, the Blues and Sprint Center presented tickets to all of Brandt’s first grade class to attend the game as well. Students were excited to receive tickets as well as the opportunity to meet a professional hockey player. Blue star defenseman Parayko talked with students about playing hockey and Blues mascot Louie was also a hit with the kids.
