Four years of hard work and dedication paid off for Northeast High School Senior Perrion Burnett. Burnett received the Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence at Abilene Christian University in Texas—a scholarship worth $40,000 over four years.
Burnett attributed his success to his constant hard work and dedication to academics.
“Sometimes you just have to separate yourself and work hard. “I’m always working to become better.” Burnett said.
Burnett, who is the Northeast starting quarterback, says he also looks forward to playing for the ACU football team as a walk-on.
Burnett wants more freshman at Northeast high school to follow in his footsteps and gain access to college scholarships. Burnett’s advice to his peers is to “stay on your grades and not procrastinate. It will help you in the long run.”
