Kansas City, March 23, 2017: Kansas City Public Schools will be hosting community forums to gather input for its “Top 5: Strategic Planning” initiative from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28 at Central Academy of Excellence and Benjamin Banneker Elementary School; and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29 at Northeast Middle School and Paseo Academy of Fine and Performing Arts. All members of the public are invited to attend.
These forums will be facilitated by Performance Fact, Inc., which was selected by the KCPS Board of Directors to oversee the strategic planning process. Parents, students, teachers, and community members will be asked to identify their top five goals and strategies for the school system.
KCPS began the strategic planning initiative in January 2017. The strategic plan will identify major areas of focus and guide the district over the next five years.
A primary purpose of strategic planning is to reach a mutual understanding about common goals. It gives shared meaning to the work of the school or school system, thereby enabling successful accomplishment of the goals of the organization.
To be effective, this effort must include the voices of the diverse stakeholders within KCPS. That helps ensure that these stakeholders are engaged with and committed to the final plan.
Food and childcare will be provided at the community forums. Visit kcpublicschools.org/StrategicPlan to learn more about this initiative.
